Kia has announced the starting price for the new 2027 model year Telluride hybrid SUV. The vehicle will start at $46,490, excluding a $1,545 destination fee.
Fuel Savings and Payback Period
At current average U.S. fuel prices (about $3.18 per gallon) and with an annual mileage of 14,000 miles, the hybrid with 35 mpg fuel economy will save about 138.5 gallons of fuel, or $440 per year, compared to the gasoline-powered EX version (26 mpg). At this rate of savings, it would take just over six years to recoup the $2,700 price difference through fuel savings alone.
Trims and Equipment
The lineup of hybrid modifications mirrors the trim structure of the regular Telluride.
The base Telluride Hybrid EX is equipped with LED lighting, acoustic front glass, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Equipment also includes roof rails, a sunroof, and bright metal accents.
The interior features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an equally sized multimedia screen, an eight-speaker audio system, as well as heated and ventilated front seats with SynTex artificial leather. Standard equipment also includes second-row captain’s chairs, dual wireless smartphone charging, three-zone climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a 115V outlet in the cargo area.
The vehicle received an extensive suite of driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, blind-spot collision warning, high-beam assist, intelligent speed limit assist, and a forward collision-avoidance system with pedestrian, cyclist detection, and junction turning function. Parking assist, lane departure warning, and a rearview monitor with dynamic guidelines are also present.
More Expensive Trims
The SX trim priced from $51,490 gets LED fog lights, 20-inch wheels, a dual sunroof, and satin chrome accents. The interior gains an upgraded digital instrument cluster, a premium 14-speaker Meridian audio system with a subwoofer, 74-color ambient lighting, stainless steel pedals and scuff plates, a HomeLink system, and a driver’s seat with 10-way power adjustment and memory settings. The safety package adds blind-spot and surround-view monitors, as well as a rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance system.
The off-road X-Line SX version with all-wheel drive starts at $54,490. It features roof cross rails, 21-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, and a combination of gloss and matte black accents in the exterior.
The most luxurious SX Prestige trim is priced at $56,590. It is equipped with 20-inch wheels, rain-sensing wipers, acoustic second-row glass, and in the interior offers seats and headliner upholstered in SynTex artificial suede, wood trim, a digital rearview mirror, digital key technology, a head-up display, as well as heated and ventilated second-row seats.
The top of the line is the X-Line SX Prestige at $57,590, which combines elements of the off-road and luxury versions, including 21-inch wheels and cross rails.
Hybrid Powertrain
All Telluride Hybrid versions received the same hybrid powertrain. It combines a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a 1.65 kWh lithium-ion battery, a six-speed automatic transmission, and electric motors. The total system output is 329 hp, with torque of 459 Nm. The stated average fuel economy is up to 35 mpg.

The arrival of the Telluride hybrid version is a logical step for Kia in the large family crossover market, where fuel economy is becoming increasingly important. Despite the significant price premium compared to gasoline models, the offer may be attractive to buyers planning long-term ownership and wishing to reduce fuel costs. Competition with the cheaper Hyundai Palisade Hybrid makes the choice even more interesting and may encourage buyers to make a detailed comparison of the equipment and characteristics of both models.
