He drove 1,600 miles in his Corvette and lost over $20,000

Corvette Stingray Convertible sold at a significant discount

Although attention is focused on more powerful Corvette versions, such as the ZR1, Z06, and E-Ray, the base model C8 Stingray remains an attractive sports car. It is no longer in the spotlight, but it offers a good balance of performance, style, and cost.

Low-mileage specimens are now appearing on the market at a price lower than the original, often with a valid warranty—an ideal moment to buy.

Deal details

A 2023 Corvette Stingray Convertible 2LT Z51 was sold at auction for $71,860—that’s $20,860 cheaper than its original price. The car has only 1,600 miles on it, making it practically new.

Design and trim

The car is painted in a sophisticated Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat with bright silver 19- and 20-inch wheels. The Z51 package included an upgraded suspension, a spoiler, larger brakes, and a sport exhaust system.

“The contrasting red body color with a black interior creates a classic yet striking image,” experts note.

This Corvette was already listed at auction in January 2023; back then, the mileage was only 329 miles, and the maximum bid reached $94,000. However, the sale did not go through. In two and a half years, the price dropped by $22,000, making this deal advantageous for the new owner.

The used sports car market has recently shown interesting dynamics—demand for “base” models in the segment is decreasing in favor of more powerful versions, creating ideal conditions for buyers looking for a stylish car for reasonable money. The Corvette Stingray, especially in a low-mileage version, remains one of the best options in its class.
