Owner of a Low-Mileage Electric Macan Complains That the $33,000 Auction Hit Is Too Severe for Him

Auction Failure of the Porsche Macan Electric Turbo

The story of this Porsche Macan Electric clearly illustrates the difference between marketing hype and market reality. A nearly new 2025 model year electric vehicle in the powerful Turbo trim, which once cost over $120,000, failed to attract buyers at the Cars&Bids auction, where bidding stopped at just $88,500.

Vehicle Details and Value Loss

This specific example in Ice Grey Metallic with only 1,500 miles on the odometer was initially sold for a price of $121,855. Despite impressive specifications — approximately 630 horsepower, acceleration to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, and a range of nearly 300 miles — it did not find a new owner. The first owner additionally spent $15,000 on options such as 22-inch RS Spyder Design wheels, a heads-up display, and the Sport Chrono package.

An auction bid of $88,500 would mean a loss of over $33,000 from the original price, which was obviously unacceptable to the seller.

Problems with New Macan Sales

Difficulties in selling used electric vehicles are not the only challenge for Porsche. Global Macan sales are already declining, and the electric version is facing particular difficulties. In the first quarter, deliveries of the Macan Electric fell by 43% compared to the previous year. This is happening against the backdrop of the gasoline version, which still enjoys greater demand, being discontinued in the summer, with its successor only appearing in 2028.

This situation creates uncertainty in the market. On one hand, buyers may hesitate between remaining gasoline models and new, but expensive electric versions. On the other — the rapid depreciation of premium electric vehicles, as demonstrated by the auction, may dampen interest in the used market. The success of future generations of electric Porsches may largely depend on how the company handles these challenges and maintains the loyalty of its traditional customer base.
