Mercedes Driver Lost Consciousness, and the Car Flew Over Other Vehicles. Who, in Your Opinion, Got Fined?

Incredible Accident in Romania

A Mercedes-Benz driver in Romania miraculously survived a horrific accident during which the car, at high speed, crashed into a roundabout, flew over two other cars, and landed on the territory of a gas station.

The moment the sedan became airborne was captured by surveillance cameras, and the footage is truly shocking.

Sequence of Events

According to local media reports, the incident occurred at the beginning of the week in the city of Oradea. The surveillance footage shows the Mercedes approaching the roundabout at high speed, with no signs of the driver attempting to brake.

Subsequently, the car takes off into the air and flies over two cars that were moving from the opposite side of the roundabout.

Reportedly, the Mercedes crashed into the sidewalk near a gas station. Fortunately, it did not hit the fuel pumps, which could have led to significantly worse consequences.

Cause of the Accident

Local authorities’ representatives confirmed that the driver behind the wheel suffered a diabetic attack and lost consciousness. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and freed the man from the vehicle.

He is believed to have sustained minor or moderate injuries. After treatment in the hospital, he was discharged and returned home.

Consequences for the Driver

Despite the circumstances, police fined the 49-year-old driver an amount equivalent to 365 US dollars for this accident. He may also face a driving ban for up to 90 days.

The video shows that at the moment the car used the roundabout as a ramp, all airbags deployed immediately, which undoubtedly helped the driver avoid serious head injuries.

This case once again reminds us of the importance of constant health monitoring, especially for people with chronic illnesses who operate vehicles. Similar incidents, where vehicle safety technology effectively performs its role, demonstrate progress in automotive engineering; however, preventing accidents is primarily aided by the driver’s own responsibility. The situation with the fine, despite the medical cause of the accident, raises questions regarding the interpretation of such circumstances in the context of traffic rules and liability.
