Mustang Driver Tripled the Speed Limit, But That Was Only the Beginning of His Problems

High-Speed Chase with Alcohol and Weapons

In Michigan, a Ford Mustang driver was stopped for speeding – he was driving 143 mph in a zone with a 45 mph limit. According to police, the man was under the influence of alcohol, and a stolen firearm was found inside the vehicle.

Initially, a patrol officer noticed the car traveling at 75 mph, but when the officer tried to pull it over, the driver accelerated sharply to 143 mph. Later, local residents reported a strange Mustang that had driven onto their property. The driver ran out of the car but soon returned and drove away.

Arrest and Charges

Police found the car in a neighboring area, where they detained a man hiding in the back seat. Open alcohol bottles and a stolen rifle with erased serial numbers were found inside the cabin. The detainee, Anthony Everette, was charged with operating while intoxicated, illegal possession of a weapon, and concealing it.

“The recovery of a stolen weapon and the arrest of an intoxicated driver is a win for public safety,” stated Police Chief Robert Shelide.

The incident is another example of the dangerous combination of speeding, alcohol, and weapons. Although the report does not mention speeding fines, the driver’s bond was set at $50,000. Police emphasize the importance of obeying the laws, especially when it comes to threats to the lives of others.
