Mustang Driver in Wyoming Becomes a Vivid Example of How Not to Take Turns

Incident Details

During the Labor Day weekend in America, an accident involving a Ford Mustang occurred on the Beartooth Highway near Yellowstone. The driver of the car lost control on the winding road, leading to the vehicle overturning. The event took place on August 31st near mile marker 27 in Park County, Wyoming. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain serious injuries—he was flown to Billings for a medical examination and was discharged that same evening.

Law Enforcement Response

The Wyoming State Patrol cited the driver for reckless driving. In their statement, they emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules, especially on mountain roads like the Beartooth, where increased caution is required. In the letter, the patrol urged drivers to scan the road ahead, be attentive, and reduce speed in dangerous areas.

“Make smart decisions on the road, people. Scan the road ahead, be attentive, follow traffic rules, and reduce your speed.”

Sequence of Events

As shown in a video taken by a tourist, the Mustang was traveling at high speed before a sharp left turn. Upon exiting the turn, the car veered off the road, hit a rock, and overturned. Although there was another car in the oncoming lane at the time of the accident, it did not influence the Mustang driver’s actions. Instead of a sharp maneuver or a loss of control, it seemed that the front tires simply couldn’t handle the turn.

Aftermath and Involved Parties

The incident involved several services, including the Park County Sheriff’s Office, the Montana Patrol, Park County firefighters, and a local towing service. The accident served as a reminder that on challenging road sections, having a powerful car is not enough—driving skills and caution are also necessary.

This event once again highlights how important it is to consider road conditions and one’s own capabilities. Even on scenic routes like the Beartooth, it is necessary to remember safety, as one wrong move can lead to serious consequences. Driving a car is not just about technique, but also about responsibility.
