Truck Driver in Florida Made Dangerous U-Turn Resulting in Fatal Accident

Fatal Accident Due to Illegal Truck U-Turn

In Florida, a truck driver caused a fatal accident by performing an illegal U-turn. Dashcam footage shows Harjinder Singh beginning a U-turn across the Florida Turnpike, after which a black minivan crashed into his side. Three people in the minivan died at the scene.

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Singh had been in the US illegally since 2018 and obtained a driver’s license in California. He was arrested and charged with three counts of vehicular homicide. He also faces deportation.

“The driver’s actions were shocking and criminal. Three people died due to his irresponsibility, and their relatives will forever be left with this pain.”

Circumstances of the Accident

The investigation revealed that Singh began the U-turn from the right lane in an area designated only for emergency services. This maneuver created a direct threat to all drivers on the road. At the moment of the collision, the minivan was occupied by a 30-year-old driver from Florida City, a 54-year-old passenger from Miami, and a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach – all of whom died. Singh himself and his passenger were not injured.

This tragedy once again underscores the necessity of adhering to traffic rules, especially when operating large freight vehicles. The incident also highlights the issue of drivers being in the country illegally and obtaining documentation to operate motor vehicles. Local authorities have already begun an investigation into California’s driver’s license issuance system.
