While a speed of 269 km/h is commonplace for a Porsche on the Autobahn, in California, such a reading caused shock. It is particularly impressive that the Panamera driver ignored the limit, doubling the permitted maximum.
As reported by the California Highway Patrol, on April 29th at 7:00 PM, a patrol officer recorded a car traveling at an incredible speed. On a section with a 113 km/h limit, the driver accelerated to 269 km/h.
Law enforcement representatives called such driving “an invitation to disaster” and stopped the violator. The man was issued a citation for extreme speeding and for not having an insurance policy.
The police emphasized that there are no valid reasons for driving at speeds over 160 km/h, as it directly threatens lives. Fortunately, this incident resulted in no casualties.
According to local law, such a violation carries a fine of up to $1,000, two penalty points, and a possible one-month license suspension. The lack of insurance could cost another $500 and the driver’s license.
However, in this case, the fine exceeded $2,700, which may indicate additional violations. Although, given the car’s brand, there are no doubts about the driver’s ability to pay.
