Drivers Hoped to Refuel Their Tanks, But Got Something Completely Different

Mistake at a Sam’s Club Gas Station in Ohio

A mistake occurred at a Sam’s Club gas station in St. Clairsville, Ohio: during the refueling of the tanks, diesel fuel got into the tanks intended for regular gasoline. Drivers who refueled at this station were unaware of the problem, but later their cars started breaking down due to the wrong fuel.

The company confirmed that the incident occurred last Saturday during the refueling of the underground tanks. However, the mistake was only discovered when customers started complaining on social media about problems with their vehicles. One woman reported that her own brother had refueled at this station, after which his truck stopped starting.

Consequences and the Company’s Response

The gas station manager, Kat Leachko, is urging affected customers to contact the store and file claims. To do this, personal data, information about the vehicle, and refueling details must be provided. Company representative Steven Zapata stated:

We are actively working to resolve this situation and are ready to compensate the affected customers for their damages.

Diesel fuel has a different density than gasoline and can clog the fuel system of vehicles designed for regular fuel. In such cases, it is necessary to completely drain the tank and clean the system. However, the consequences of this mistake are less critical than if gasoline had gotten into a diesel engine—in that case, serious damage is possible.

This incident once again reminds us of the importance of careful control at gas stations, as even a small mistake can lead to serious problems for drivers. Sam’s Club promises to resolve the issue with those affected, but customers have already experienced the consequences of a technical failure.
