Sales Stimulation for Volkswagen ID Buzz
Volkswagen has significantly increased incentives for the ID Buzz electric minivan, offering discounts of up to $10,000. Many dealers are already listing new ID Buzz Pro S models at prices well below the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. In certain showrooms, for example in Colorado, prices for this car start at just over $30,000.
Sales Challenges for the Electric Minivan
In the first nine months of the year, Volkswagen managed to sell only 2,469 ID Buzz electric vehicles. This figure makes it the least popular model in the brand’s American portfolio, if we do not consider the separate sports versions of the Golf R and Golf GTI, which is not entirely accurate.
Sources report that “the Buzz has disappeared,” as Volkswagen has temporarily suspended production of the model.
Given these circumstances, it is not surprising that Volkswagen dealers continue to make offers even more attractive, trying to sell off inventory before the start of the new model year.
Current Offers from Volkswagen
If you have been interested in the ID Buzz for a long time, now might be the best time to buy. At the end of November, the company increased its Retail Customer Bonus from $2,500 to $7,500. Although the promotion was presented as part of Black Friday, it will last until January. This is not the only available offer.
The ID Buzz is also eligible for a separate Dealer Bonus of $2,500. Theoretically, this brings the total potential savings to $10,000. However, it is worth noting that the dealer bonus is not guaranteed to be passed on to the buyer. Dealers have the right to keep these $2,500 for themselves.
Therefore, if you are seriously considering a deal, be prepared to negotiate. Whether this bonus will be transferred to you may depend on how convincingly you argue your position.
Both bonuses appear to apply to all trim levels. The base ID Buzz Pro S version starts at $59,995, not including a $1,550 destination charge. With incentives, the starting price could drop to $51,545.
Importance of Comparing Offers
This is a solid discount, but, as can be seen by comparing offers on car marketplaces, some dealers offer even more aggressive prices. Several Volkswagen dealerships across the country are listing base ID Buzz Pro S models significantly below the suggested retail price.
For example, Tynan’s Volkswagen in Aurora, Colorado, has three 2025 Pro S models in stock, all priced at just $36,695, which is $25,500 less than the base price of $62,195. Each of these cars has less than 15 miles on the odometer.
These are not the only ID Buzz Pro S models available at a low price. Karen Radley Volkswagen in Woodbridge, Virginia, is offering two such cars through marketplaces, both priced at $45,195 and with zero mileage, representing a significant discount of $17,000 from the initial suggested price of $62,195.
There are dozens of other Pro S models available across the United States for less than $48,000, so there are many good options for those looking for a good deal.
Such an active sales campaign may indicate not only seasonal inventory clearance but also deeper challenges the model faces in the competitive electric vehicle market. Despite the original design, reminiscent of the classic Volkswagen Microbus, and its spacious construction, the ID Buzz seems to have not found sufficient support among American buyers. Prices approaching $30,000 make it much more affordable, but simultaneously raise questions about residual value and the long-term appeal of electric minivans as a class. The success of such promotions may influence Volkswagen’s further decisions regarding the presence of this model in the North American market.
