Problems with airbags in Volkswagen
Volkswagen has announced the recall of thousands of vehicles due to a malfunction in the safety system. The issue concerns the front passenger airbags, which may not deploy properly in the event of an accident. Among the affected models are Polo, Passat, Taigo, ID.7, ID.7 Tourer, and ID.Buzz.
According to the manufacturer’s report, a faulty gas generator in the airbags could lead to the rupture of the casing, which poses a serious threat to passengers. No injuries have been reported due to this malfunction so far, but the company emphasizes the need for immediate repair.
Recall details
Some of the vehicles have not yet been delivered to customers—they will be repaired before delivery. This is not the first recall due to airbags: in November 2024, Volkswagen already fixed a similar problem with Takata inflators in 114,478 vehicles in the USA.
Previous incidents with airbags in vehicles of various brands have shown how critical even minor technical flaws can be. Although Volkswagen is responding to the situation promptly, this serves as another reminder of the importance of regular checks of safety systems in vehicles.
