New Volkswagen Transporter T7: A Truck with an Electric Option
Volkswagen is expanding its medium-duty commercial model range by offering the Transporter T7 in various configurations. Among them are passenger versions, cargo vans, and a novelty – a double cab with an open Flatbed DoKa body.
This model features an extended wheelbase (3,500 mm) and an overall length of 5,613 mm, which is 263 mm more than the Amarok. The cargo compartment measures 2,169 mm in length and 1,945 mm in width, making it more spacious compared to conventional pickups.
Technical Features
The diesel version is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine in two power variants: 108 hp or 148 hp. The electric e-Transporter offers three power levels: 134 hp, 215 hp, or 282 hp with a torque of 415 Nm in all versions.
Interestingly, externally, the diesel and electric versions are practically indistinguishable, except for the lettering on the rear doors. Unfortunately, a special “off-road” equipment package is not provided for this model.
Compared to other pickups, the Transporter Flatbed DoKa has a slightly lower payload capacity: 736 kg for the diesel and 785 kg for the electric version. However, its capacity and the choice between a traditional and an electric engine make it an interesting option for commercial use.
The model’s price in Europe starts from €46,586 for the diesel version and €62,128 for the electric one. For comparison, the VW Amarok in the same market starts from €58,525. Prices include VAT, making the Transporter a more affordable alternative for those in need of functional commercial transport.
