An American drove his car for 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometers). That is, the odometer of the old Volvo has already started over, and as the car owner jokes, he is ready to sell his car with a mileage of only 1 mile – that’s what the odometer shows.

Jim O’Shea from Missouri bought his Volvo 740 GLE in 1991 and since then the car has been in one pair of hands. In a sense, it was a matter of principle, because Jim’s uncle had a Ford dealership, and he got angry when his nephew arrived in a Volvo. Despite the boycott from his relative, the Volvo owner told him that he would drive the Swedish sedan for 1 million miles.

And just recently, the odometer “stepped over” the desired mark of 999,999 miles. According to the American, over the past 30 years, he essentially serviced the car himself, and the issues he encountered during operation were the replacement of the engine and transmission at a mileage of 941 thousand kilometers. Otherwise, it was routine maintenance. The drawbacks include metal corrosion.
And did you know that the car with the largest mileage in history is also a Volvo? Namely – the 1966 Volvo P1800, which has traveled 5 million kilometers (!) and is included in the TOP-3 cars with record mileage.
