She Asked Police To Go Easy After Speeding Her GT4 On Her Birthday. They Didn’t

Canadian Porsche Cayman GT4 Driver Caught Speeding 88 km/h Over Limit

Police fined her 483 Canadian dollars and confiscated the car for a full seven days. The Sea to Sky Highway in British Columbia has now become a hotspot for speed violators.

An Unusual Birthday Celebration

We all love to celebrate a birthday well, but few choose high speed behind the wheel of a bright yellow Porsche for this purpose. One driver in Canada did just that, and instead of cake or candles, her car was confiscated after she was caught at a speed more than double the legal limit.

Details of the Sea to Sky Highway Incident

The incident occurred on December 30, 2025, on the scenic Sea to Sky Highway in British Columbia, which winds from Vancouver into the mountains. Using radar, an officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police of British Columbia recorded a Porsche Cayman GT4 traveling at 168 km/h in a zone with an 80 km/h limit.

Police report that the woman at the wheel asked the officer to be “lenient” because it was her birthday. This appeal was unsuccessful. Instead, she received a fine of 483 Canadian dollars for excessive speed, and her Porsche was sent for a mandatory seven-day impound.

It is our job to maintain road safety. If you drive carelessly, you will face the consequences, regardless of the occasion.

Long-Term Consequences of the Violation

The long-term cost may be even more painful. She will now have to pay high-risk driver insurance premiums for at least three years, amounting to approximately 2500 Canadian dollars in total.

Other Violators on the Same Stretch of Road

As it turned out, the Porsche was not the only car stopped on the same stretch of road that day. Early that same morning, a rented Volkswagen and a Subaru were also stopped for excessive speed. Officers recorded them at speeds of 154 km/h and 149 km/h, respectively.

According to the Subaru driver, the Volkswagen was tailgating him, while the Volkswagen driver explained that he “wanted to get ahead” before the end of the two merging lanes.

Merging lanes are not a time for racing. At best, your dangerous driving will save you a few seconds. At worst, you will have a terrible crash or lose hours of time while your car is impounded by the police. If you want to save time, leave earlier and obey the speed limit.

Sea to Sky Highway – A Hotspot for Speeders

According to CTV News, the Sea to Sky Highway has become a hotspot for speed violators. On Christmas, 14 vehicles were confiscated after each was recorded exceeding the speed limit by at least 40 km/h.

This case clearly demonstrates how British Columbia police are intensifying the fight against dangerous driving on one of the region’s most scenic but also most challenging highways. Local residents and tourists often complain about aggressive driving behavior, especially during holiday periods when traffic volume increases. Vehicle impoundment, especially for an extended period, is one of the strictest measures aimed not only at punishment but also at preventing future violations. The effectiveness of such actions is often debated, but accident statistics on this section indicate a need for decisive measures. Perhaps this story will serve as a warning to other drivers who believe that special dates or powerful cars can serve as justification for violating safety rules.
