They drove 909 miles in a Porsche 911 Dakar and earned hundreds of thousands of dollars

Rare Porsche 911 Dakar sold again at auction

Limited editions of sports cars often become investment objects rather than vehicles for daily use. This trend has also affected the 2024 Porsche 911 Dakar, which was recently resold after just 909 miles of driving. The manufacturer limited the production of this model to 2,500 units worldwide.

In addition to the unique $14,750 paint job, the car received additional options: glossy black brake calipers for $900, special lighting for $330, and an interior with deviated stitching for $3,650. The total cost was $243,280, but at auction, the car sold for $348,500.

An off-roader that will never see off-road

Although the 911 Dakar is designed for extreme conditions, most owners use it as a regular city car. The base Carrera 4 GTS platform is enhanced with a special suspension, hydraulic lift system, and new wheels with Pirelli tires. Additional equipment includes a roof rack with LED lighting, off-road boards, and canisters.

This is already the second 911 Dakar purchased by this collector. In February, he spent $365,000 on a model in Yachting Blue, and in October 2023, he unsuccessfully tried to sell a Shade Green Metallic example.

Sales history shows that many such cars become part of investment portfolios rather than being used as intended. Instead of off-road adventures, they regularly appear at auctions, maintaining minimal mileage and steadily increasing their market value.

The Porsche 911 Dakar continues to attract collectors, but its true potential remains unrealized. Even with impressive technical specifications and special equipment, these cars rarely leave city limits, turning into investment objects or status symbols.
