The Russian automotive industry continues to “develop.” While the Chinese are taking over entire factories and dealerships in Russia (the number of Chinese dealers increased by 1.5 times in 2022), the local automaker is developing new and new modifications of its models.
Their novelty lies in the fact that the quantity and list of equipment are decreasing almost weekly. The latest news – AutoVAZ will release a new simplified (more precisely, even more simplified) configuration of the Lada Granta, which will lack electric power steering.
And this is because, as of mid-January, 7-8 thousand under-equipped cars have already accumulated at the AutoVAZ plant. The reason is a shortage of electric power steering systems for the Lada Granta. Notably, this model was previously deprived of ABS (for the same reason, there’s nowhere to source it). Recall that on the eve of the New Year, the Moskvich brand was revived in Russia, and they even presented a new product. However, it turned out that the new Moskvich is a Chinese electric car with a different badge. Interestingly, its price is comparable to that of a Tesla – almost 50 thousand dollars!
