Fulfill Your Tokyo Drift Dreams Behind the Wheel of This VeilSide Mazda RX-7

Legendary Car from “Tokyo Drift” to be Auctioned

The iconic “Fast and Furious” film series has had varying successes throughout its long history, but for car enthusiasts, the 2006 movie “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” remains the brightest. It wasn’t just another sequel; it was a film that turned several Japanese sports cars into cultural icons, among which the Mazda RX-7 stands out.

Han’s Car from the Movie

In the film, Han drove a heavily modified RX-7, equipped with a VeilSide body kit and painted in a combination of orange and black. Although it resembled a European supercar more than the original vehicle, it was undoubtedly one of the most striking in the movie.

Next month, an RX-7 identical to Han’s car will be put up for auction, which will undoubtedly spark a wave of discussion among fans of the series.

Auction and Car Details

Nine RX-7s with VeilSide body kits were built for the filming of “Tokyo Drift.” Although the car being sold is technically a replica, its resemblance to the on-screen version is perfect, with one exception: it is left-hand drive, making it more practical for American roads.

The auction house Mecum Auctions confirms that the car is equipped with the original VeilSide Fortune body kit. The 1.3-liter turbocharged rotary engine has been completely rebuilt and now includes an equal-length lower intake manifold, an upgraded BorgWarner turbocharger, a tuned Haltech engine control unit, an improved fuel system, and a new Greddy intercooler.

Power figures are not disclosed, but it can be assumed that it has enough to easily spin the rear wheels.

Technical Features and Interior

This Mazda sits on custom BC Forged alloy wheels, shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. It also features a suspension with adjustable shock absorbers, upgraded brakes with stainless steel lines, and a MagnaFlow midpipe paired with a custom exhaust system.

The interior has received pleasant changes: alongside the Haltech digital display, a new dual-format multimedia system has appeared, along with carbon fiber trim on the center console and a new gear shift lever. The speakers have been replaced, so the new owner can enjoy the “Tokyo Drift” soundtrack while driving.

Auction Conclusion

This RX-7 is the perfect option for those seeking nostalgia or simply wanting to look incredibly cool at a traffic light. The Mecum auction will allow interested parties to check if their wallet and parking space are ready for Han’s spirit to come alive again.

This auction highlights the ongoing influence of “Tokyo Drift” on car culture, demonstrating how cinema can turn ordinary cars into objects of desire for collectors. The sale of such replicas often attracts attention not only from franchise fans but also from those who appreciate unique technical solutions and the history associated with the car.
