A terrible tragedy occurred in the American city of Durham. A domestic gas explosion led to human casualties and destroyed one of the world’s largest collections of Porsches.
The car collection belonged to millionaire Bob Ingram and included over 80 Porsches of different years of production. It featured early Porsche 356 Speedsters as well as the modern hypercar Porsche 918 Spyder.
The explosion occurred due to repair works – workers punctured a gas pipeline near the building where Bob Ingram’s cars were stored.
Although most people were evacuated from the block immediately after the leak, one person died and another 17 were injured to varying degrees.
Bob Ingram’s garage was completely destroyed by the explosion. The exact number of destroyed cars is not specified, but it is unlikely that many cars survived.
