Xiaomi Updated the SU7 Model, Receiving 15 Thousand Orders in Eight Hours

Updated Xiaomi SU7 Version Already on the Market

Only two years have passed since the debut of the Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan, and it has already managed to become one of the most popular in China. Now the company has presented an updated version, which promises to be even better while maintaining an attractive price.

If traditional automakers need 4-5 years to update a model, then Xiaomi, more akin to Apple, is accustomed to updating products annually. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the SU7 has already been modernized. The car is still offered in Standard, Pro, and Max trim levels. Demand is enormous: in the first 8 hours, customers placed 15 thousand orders.

Technical Specifications and Prices

The base SU7 Standard model is equipped with a 73 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery and a rear electric motor with 315 hp. The declared CLTC cycle range is 720 km. Its starting price is 219,900 yuan (approximately $31,900).

The SU7 Pro model received a larger 96.3 kWh battery and the same motor, which increased the range to 902 km. The price of this version is 249,900 yuan (about $36,200).

The top-tier SU7 Max is equipped with a 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery, two motors with a combined power of 681 hp, and offers a range of 835 km. Its cost starts from 303,900 yuan ($44,000). The question of updating the Ultra version, which can compete with hypercars, remains open for now, but work on it is likely underway.

Exterior and Equipment

Visually, the new model is almost indistinguishable from the previous one. However, all versions now come standard with a LiDAR sensor on the roof, a 4D millimeter-wave radar, and the Nvidia Thor-U computing system. A new front radar has also been added, and the rear tires have become slightly wider, which will likely improve road grip.

Important Changes in Safety and Interior

Xiaomi introduced a new door opening mechanism with a triple redundancy system. This is meant to guarantee that the driver and passengers won’t be trapped inside after a serious accident. The mechanical opening lever on the front passenger doors now has a bright red color for better visibility in an emergency.

The interior overall remains recognizable, but the multimedia screen has slightly increased in size to 16.1 inches. The two wireless phone chargers have been retained, while the cup holders have been moved from a vertical to a horizontal position. Engineers also removed the vertical row of buttons on the center console, relocating them between the charging pads and the drink holders.

The rapid model update and consideration of feedback from the first owners show Xiaomi’s flexibility as a new player in the automotive market. The company is not just releasing an electric sedan but is actively improving it, focusing on safety and practicality. This approach, combined with an aggressive pricing policy, could seriously shake the positions of traditional automakers, especially in the key Chinese market. The success of the SU7 also demonstrates how tech giants can quickly adapt their product development and support approaches to a completely new industry for them.
