An alternative to the generator is the BYD Han electric car. Previously, during power outages, the homeowner had to spend up to 8000 hryvnias per day on fuel for the generator. Now the power source is the electric car’s battery, as it is equipped with a bidirectional charging function, meaning it can transfer charge to the grid.
Now the new BYD Han can power a building for 16 hours a day. For the remaining 8 hours, the generator operates, which simultaneously charges the electric car. Even in this mixed mode, costs have been reduced by as much as four times!
