Teenagers in Georgia accused of a series of car thefts
In the city of LaGrange, Georgia, three teenagers aged 14 and 15 are accused of a series of car thefts. In total, they face 136 felonies, including theft, weapons-related offenses, and entering unlocked vehicles. Police report that at least 35 such incidents have been recorded since March.
The Troup County Sheriff’s Office arrested the suspects, who have already been charged with 52 counts within the county. The local Hogansville Police Department also added another 84 felonies to the list of charges.
“As a result of the investigation, all three minors received a total of 84 felonies for incidents within the city of Hogansville, as well as over 50 charges for crimes across Troup County”
Investigation continues
Police emphasize that many victims left their cars unlocked, allowing the criminals to easily enter. Some of the stolen items have already been returned to their owners. Sheriff James Woodruff thanked investigators for their persistent work. The search for additional evidence and possible victims is ongoing.
This story serves as a reminder of the importance of basic preventive measures, such as locking car doors. While the teenagers may not fully comprehend the consequences of their actions, the scale of the charges highlights the seriousness of the situation. Police advise residents to remain vigilant and assist in the investigation if they have any information.
