Which car has the saddest rear windshield wiper you’ve ever seen?

Unusually small wipers on large SUVs

Sometimes in automotive design, there are solutions that make you think: “Seriously?” Rear windshield wipers usually don’t attract attention, but when you notice one that looks clearly disproportionate in size, it’s hard to forget. For example, the Honda Prologue’s rear wiper is so small that it can hardly be considered functional.

It turns out this isn’t the only case. A similar “design feature” can be seen in the Chevrolet Blazer EV, which shares the same platform as the Honda Prologue. The reason for this design is simple—high window lines and narrow rear windshields. A larger wiper could interfere with the spoiler, so manufacturers opt for shorter blades.

Is there an alternative?

A similar situation is observed in other models, such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee L or Ford Bronco Sport. Despite having larger rear windows, the wipers remain small. However, some manufacturers have found a solution—for example, in the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, the wipers are positioned at the top and hidden under the spoiler, improving both functionality and appearance.

Interestingly, once you notice this detail, you start seeing similar “miniature” wipers on many cars. Maybe this will become a trend, but for now, it looks more like a compromise than a well-thought-out solution. Some drivers have already expressed dissatisfaction, as such wipers often fail to clean the entire window, especially during rain or snow.
