New Lexus ES for Japan: Exclusive Aerodynamic Body Kits and Light Projections
Lexus has introduced the eighth generation of the ES sedan in the Japanese domestic market, following the model’s debut in the US and Europe. Hybrid and electric powertrains remain unchanged, but Japanese buyers have access to a wider selection of additional accessories, including stylish body kits and interior lighting.

Lexus Genuine Aero Parts Set
The most noticeable element of the official catalog is the Lexus Genuine Aero Parts Set. It lowers the sedan’s ride height and improves its aerodynamics thanks to a splitter, side skirts, and a rear bumper extension, all finished in glossy black. The set also pairs with teardrop-shaped fins on each D-pillar, which, according to Lexus, stabilize turbulence along the rear end, improving stability and steering response.
Modellista Advanced Luxury Package
For buyers seeking something different, Modellista offers the Advanced Luxury Package. It adds body-colored parts that reduce ground clearance by up to 26 mm (1 inch) along the profile. The side skirts feature illumination and are combined with mirrors that integrate fins. The set is completed with a set of 21-inch forged aluminum wheels in a dark premium metallic finish.

While Japan has all these exterior options, buyers in the US are currently limited to black emblems, wheel locks, and protective films. Another difference between the two markets is the variety of lighting accessories.
Lighting and Projections
The Japanese version of the ES can be equipped with a Projection Welcome Illumination system, which projects the Lexus emblem onto the road in front of the car, as well as side projection lighting that creates geometric graphics along the sides.
The catalog also includes illuminated door sills, a trunk sill, and Lexus’s signature puddle lamps, which are also available in the US. Buyers wanting more can add illuminated cupholders and door pockets in various colors.

The rest of the interior list includes headrest cushions, a rear footrest with deodorizing properties, seatback storage pockets with a tablet holder, and premium floor and trunk mats. The lineup also includes the ES350e Rr Comfort package, an analog to the US Executive Package, designed for owners who prefer the rear seat. Lexus is also strengthening anti-theft measures with physical locks for wheels and the steering wheel.
Prices in Japan
The Lexus ES sells in Japan starting at ¥7,900,000 ($49,200) for the base front-wheel-drive hybrid ES350h. At the top are the front-wheel-drive electric ES350e in Rr Comfort trim and the all-wheel-drive ES500e in L version, both at ¥9,200,000 ($57,300). The American version is slightly more expensive, ranging from $51,095 to $60,295 depending on the trim.

As for additional options, the Lexus Genuine Aero Parts Set costs ¥293,700 ($1,800), aerodynamic stabilizing fins — ¥22,000 ($140), the Modellista package — ¥642,400 ($4,000), and 21-inch wheels add another ¥964,700 ($6,000). The Projection Welcome Illumination system is priced at ¥55,000 ($340) for the grille and ¥83,600 ($520) for side projections.
Last but not least, Lexus offers a deodorizing footrest for the driver and passenger, whose feet have become a known issue, for ¥46,200 ($290), headrest cushions for ¥38,500 ($240), a seatback storage pocket for ¥17,600 ($110), and a trunk mat for ¥30,800 ($190).
Thus, the Japanese market receives significantly more customization options for the new Lexus ES than the American one, especially in terms of exterior appearance and lighting effects. Although the technical content of the car is identical for both markets, Japanese buyers can order truly unique accessories that transform the sedan into a more expressive and technologically advanced vehicle. Interestingly, the prices for additional equipment, especially wheels and the Modellista package, are quite high, making top-tier ES versions significantly more expensive than standard models.
