A rare accident involving an electric vehicle uncommon for this country occurred in Uganda. The only Tesla Cybertruck pickup in the country overturned while driving on a dirt racing track. The incident was captured on video, which quickly spread across social media.

The recording shows the vehicle approaching a left turn at high speed. Apparently, the driver took the turn too sharply, leading to a loss of control. The heavy vehicle first tipped onto its right side, then onto its roof, and finally came to a stop on the driver’s side. Official details regarding the cause of the accident, the owner’s identity, or possible injuries are not yet available.
Preliminary reports indicate that this vehicle was a private import by a wealthy Ugandan and was the only Cybertruck in the entire country.
Consequences of the Accident and the Vehicle’s Future
Photos and videos from the scene show serious damage. The vehicle has almost all its glass elements shattered, the roof is crumpled, and many plastic parts are irreparably destroyed. Since there are no official Tesla dealers in Uganda, the question of repair feasibility arises. There is an opinion that importing a new car might prove cheaper than restoring this one.
Location of the Incident
The accident occurred on the Garuga track, located near Lake Victoria. This track is often used for amateur car racing and recreational driving, not for professional competitions. Although the internet mostly features photos of motorcycles on this track, cars, including rally cars, sometimes appear there as well.
The road surface conditions, exact speed, and the driver’s actions during the incident remain unknown. No official statements have been received from local authorities, event organizers, or the car owner themselves. It is to be hoped that all participants in the incident did not sustain serious injuries.
This case clearly demonstrates the challenges associated with operating high-tech vehicles in regions lacking official manufacturer support and service infrastructure. Even as a symbol of status and technological progress, such a car can quickly lose its value due to a single incident, as its restoration becomes an extremely complex and expensive logistical task.
