Problems with the panoramic roof on the Toyota RAV4
Owners of the 2021 Toyota RAV4 are facing an unexpected problem – the panoramic roof can shatter suddenly. A class action lawsuit, filed in 2023, is currently awaiting certification and trial.
Lawsuit Details
The lawsuit was initially filed by two owners – Jeffrey Takili and Areceli Gamez. Takili reported that his RAV4’s roof shattered less than a year after purchase. Although he paid for the repair, he later withdrew from the lawsuit.
Gamez claims her car’s roof shattered just one month after purchase. After a replacement, the problem repeated, forcing her to spend $500 again.
The lawsuit states that the problem may be related to substandard materials or manufacturing defects. Furthermore, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received numerous complaints about similar incidents.
Judge Dale A. Drozd has set a final deadline for filing documents for class action certification for September 2025, and the trial is scheduled to begin in March 2027.
This situation is causing concern among Toyota RAV4 owners, as the problem may be more widespread than it seems. If you have also encountered a similar issue, your experience could help other owners understand the scale of the problem.
