Anniversary 25-Year Version of Toyota Hybrid Now Costs More

New 2026 Toyota Prius: Minor Changes and a New Nightshade Version

Toyota has introduced the updated 2026 Prius. There are no major changes to the model, but the price has increased slightly. Among the new features is a special Nightshade Edition for the Prius Prime, which costs $37,795. This version received black design elements, including emblems, body details, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The company celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Prius in the US market, calling the original model a “true revolution” that “started the trend of electrification.” However, contrary to expectations, a special anniversary edition was not introduced.

Specifications and Prices

The base Prius LE version is equipped with a 2.0-liter hybrid engine producing 194 hp, 17-inch wheels, a 7-inch digital instrument panel, and the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 safety system. The all-wheel drive (AWD) model offers 196 hp. Fuel consumption is up to 57 miles per gallon.

Prices for the 2026 Prius start at $28,550 ($200 more than last year). The Nightshade Edition for the Prius Prime received a black interior with carbon-look elements, SofTex leatherette, and an 8-way adjustable driver’s seat. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain develops 220 hp and provides up to 44 miles of range on a single charge.

Despite the lack of major updates, the Prius remains one of the most efficient hybrid models on the market. The price increase of $200-400 may be due to inflation and rising production costs. The new Nightshade version is likely aimed at attracting a younger audience that values aggressive design.
