For the Price of Just Bugatti Headlights You Can Buy an Entire Lamborghini

Famous Supercar Restorer Offered to Restore a Wrecked Bugatti Chiron

Mat Armstrong, who became famous on YouTube for restoring wrecked Lamborghinis, Porsches, and Rolls-Royces, is considering a new challenge — repairing a Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport. This car is one of only 60 produced and was severely damaged after a collision with a Japanese mini-truck.

Shocking Parts Prices

During a visit to Miami, Armstrong assessed the car’s condition and began inquiring about the cost of the necessary parts. As it turned out, the prices for Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport parts are staggering: the radiator grille alone costs $93,000, and the headlights are over $170,000. For comparison, that amount could cover the cost of an entire Lamborghini Huracan.

“The headlights, as he was informed, cost 150,000 euros, as do the carbon wings. One part of the carbon hood will cost 50,000 euros, and the radiator grille surround — a staggering 80,000 euros”

Repair Problems

Despite Armstrong’s experience, having already restored many supercars, he encountered a serious obstacle. Bugatti officially declared the car a total loss and refused to sell parts for its repair. The company plans to restore the car itself in France.

Project Future

The car will be sold through the Copart auction, and Armstrong asked his subscribers for their opinion on the advisability of the purchase. Most commentators believe it’s better to abandon such an idea due to the high financial risks. Furthermore, the car’s owner, Alex J., continues to pay off the loan on the Bugatti, despite the car being unusable.

This story highlights how complex working with exclusive supercars can be. Even experienced specialists face limitations set by manufacturers, who control the repair process and access to parts. Such practices can impact the used car market, reducing opportunities for independent workshops. Moreover, the financial obligations of owners, as in the case of Alex J., demonstrate how important insurance and caution are when operating such vehicles.
