Hyundai Grandeur Update
Hyundai discontinued sales of the Azera model in the US market back in 2017, but this car continues to exist in other markets under the name Grandeur. The seventh generation of the sedan debuted in 2022, and now it’s time for its update.
Exterior Changes
A prototype was recently spotted undergoing testing in low-temperature conditions. The exterior of the updated model appears to have undergone evolutionary changes. Despite the black camouflage hiding most of the details, it can be assumed that the car will receive a thickened version of the signature “seamless horizon lamp” lighting.
A little lower, rectangular headlights can be seen, which have replaced the previous vertical units. The free space below them will likely be occupied by new air curtains.
The rest of the body seems to remain virtually unchanged, however, updated wheel rims and a modified rear end are fully expected. The latter is covered in snow and overlays, but may hide an updated bumper and revised rear lights.
Completely New Interior
The exterior changes will be relatively minor, but the same cannot be said about the interior. While the current model features 12.3-inch displays and a separate 10.25-inch climate control system, the updated luxury sedan will get a separate digital instrument cluster and a completely new Pleos infotainment system. The latter was introduced about a year ago and is based on the Android Automotive OS.
Installing the new screens will require serious changes, including a completely new dashboard. Its design remains a secret for now, but we hope Hyundai won’t forget to emphasize luxury.
The current Grandeur offers Nappa leather seats, natural wood and aluminum trim, and a fingerprint authentication system.
Equipment and Specifications
Among other features of the model are adjustable rear seats, augmented reality navigation, a premium 14-speaker Bose audio system, and an ultraviolet sterilization system in the center console.
In the South Korean market, the model is offered with a range of engines:
A hybrid version with a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine and an electric motor is also available, with a combined output of 227 hp.
The Hyundai Grandeur update demonstrates how the manufacturer balances preserving a recognizable image with integrating modern technologies. The focus on developing a completely new interior with the advanced Pleos infotainment system indicates a desire to meet the needs of a market where digital technology and comfort are becoming decisive factors in choosing a car. The question remains whether this sedan, which is no longer represented in key markets like the US, can continue to compete in the global luxury segment, where other players dominate.
