New Electric Cayenne Will Support Wireless Charging
The new electric version of the Porsche Cayenne will be equipped with an option for inductive charging with a capacity of up to 11 kW. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed the price of this option, but it is known that it will first appear in Europe next year, and then in other markets.
Convenience for Users
Do you find plugging your electric vehicle into a charger at home too complicated? Porsche offers a solution: the upcoming all-electric Cayenne will debut with an optional inductive charging platform, allowing you to avoid using cables. Of course, this only applies to home charging, as public charging stations will still require cables.
Technology and Competitors
Porsche is not the only manufacturer investing in wireless charging. For example, the upcoming Tesla Cybercab will also support inductive charging, and the hybrid McLaren Speedtail already had a similar feature. In the case of the electric Cayenne, the receiver is located between the front wheels and provides a charging speed of up to 11 kW.
How the System Works
The charging platform contains all the necessary components to initiate charging, although the platform itself requires a cable connection. The charging process is maximally simplified: just position the Cayenne over the platform, and the pneumatic suspension will automatically lower the car, reducing the distance between the charging devices to 4-6 inches. A surround-view camera function will help the driver position the car correctly.

Speed and Availability
Porsche does not specify how fast charging will be via the wireless platform, but 11 kW is the standard for home chargers, which is quite sufficient for overnight charging. Information on the cost of the option is not yet available. It is only known that the system will first be available in Europe and then spread to other markets.
Presentation and Design
The manufacturer presented the new system at the IAA Mobility exhibition in Munich along with a special camouflaged prototype of the electric Cayenne. The car has a bright fluorescent paint with five shades that glows under variable voltage.
This technology could become an important step in the convenience of using electric vehicles, especially for those who value space and minimalism in everyday life. The introduction of wireless charging could also stimulate other manufacturers to similar solutions, which in the future will make electric vehicles even more accessible and practical for daily use.
