The Occupation of This Country by Mobile Homes is Rapidly Increasing

New Boom on Mobile Homes in Germany

The popularity of mobile homes in Germany has reached a new level. If it was once a niche lifestyle, it is now a real trend. More than a million registered mobile homes means that a million families are ready to give up hotels in favor of a mobile life.

According to data from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), the most popular base for conversion remains the Fiat Ducato from Stellantis – it accounts for 42.6% of the total number of mobile homes in the country.

European Leader

Germany undoubtedly leads the European market. In 2024, 96,392 new mobile homes and trailers were registered here, accounting for almost half of the total European figures. France and the United Kingdom are significantly behind.

Who Chooses Mobile Homes?

Statistics show that the main audience of mobile home owners is elderly people. The largest group (32%) is people aged 60-69. Young people under 30 are practically not interested in this type of transport – their share is only 1.7%.

Regarding fuel, 97.4% of mobile homes run on diesel. Electric vehicles account for only 0.00015% of the total, indicating the conservatism of this market.

Interestingly, after the pandemic-related decline in 2022 (a drop of 17.6%), the market continues to grow steadily. In 2024, 74,718 new mobile homes were sold, which is almost three times more than in 2014. This indicates that the trend towards a mobile lifestyle continues to gain momentum, especially among the older generation.
