Residues of adhesive tape may lead to detachment of glass roofs in Polestar cars

Polestar recalls 19 electric vehicles due to roof problems

Electric vehicle manufacturer Polestar has announced a recall of 19 Polestar 3 crossovers due to a potential problem with the panoramic glass roof. During the manufacturing process, these vehicles underwent repainting, and it was then that the malfunction occurred.

Technicians used masking tape, which may have remained on the body. This leads to insufficient adhesion between the glass and the body, causing the roof to detach while driving. The manufacturer assures that such a scenario is unlikely but still offers free repairs.

How to identify the problem

Owners can look out for the following signs:

Polestar has already fixed this problem for vehicles manufactured after December 3, 2024. Owners of the affected crossovers will receive official notifications by August 18. As part of the recall, their panoramic roof will be replaced and the residues of masking tape will be removed.

This is not the first recall for the Polestar 3, indicating certain quality problems in the early stages of production. However, the scale of the problem is limited – only 19 vehicles, which is a small fraction of the total production volume. The company is responding promptly to the situation, which may increase customer trust in the brand.
