New Pack Performance for Giulia and Stelvio
Alfa Romeo continues to update its Giulia and Stelvio models, which have long needed replacement. Instead of discontinuing production, the company has decided to add new options. A new Pack Performance has appeared in Europe, combining chassis and interior upgrades into a single offering. This decision is a response to the delay of the new generations, which are now not expected before 2028.
Technical improvements: suspension from the flagship
The basis of the package is the adaptive Synaptic Dynamic Control (SDC) suspension. This is an electronically controlled system that interacts with the Alfa DNA driving modes. According to Stellantis, it is designed to find the ideal balance between comfort, handling precision, and safety. Electro-hydraulic valves regulate the oil flow in the shock absorbers, instantly changing their stiffness.
Although this technology has been used in the flagship Quadrifoglio version since 2016, its availability on standard models has been inconsistent. Previously, SDC was offered in the special Estrema, Competizione, and Intensa series, as well as an option for pre-facelift Veloce and Ti versions.
Interior and audio system
The updates also affected the cabin. The Giulia and Stelvio received black leather with red stitching, genuine carbon fiber inserts, and red accents on the dashboard, door cards, and center console. While not revolutionary changes, they bring the standard cars closer to the special versions that previously had exclusive materials.
A significant audio system upgrade has also occurred. Replacing the previous one, a 900-watt Harman Kardon system with 14 speakers and a 12-channel Class D amplifier has been installed. This puts the Sprint and Veloce versions on the same level as the Quadrifoglio and significantly surpasses the 470-watt system that was in the Intensa.
Price and availability
Stellantis has not yet announced the price of the Pack Performance. It is expected to become available for Sprint and Veloce versions on the European market, narrowing the gap between them and the top-tier Intensa and Quadrifoglio in both chassis and equipment.
Lifecycle extension
The Giulia debuted in 2015, and the Stelvio in 2016. The facelift took place at the end of 2022. Both models were already due for replacement but received a reprieve until 2027. This decision is linked to the return of the V6-powered Quadrifoglio versions.
Alfa Romeo hopes that this continued production will maintain fan interest until the arrival of new models, now delayed until 2028 due to electrification issues. The delay resulted from a strategy shift: the Italian brand abandoned plans to become fully electric in favor of a ‘multi-energy’ approach.
The new Alfas will be built on the STLA Large platform, which is being re-engineered for use with both internal combustion engines and plug-in hybrid powertrains. It is possible they will receive the twin-turbo inline-six ‘Hurricane’ engine used in the Dodge Charger.
Thus, the company is trying to find a compromise between market expectations, technological challenges, and the need to maintain interest in models that have been on the market for a long time. The Pack Performance is a way to offer customers something new without spending money on the full-scale development of a new generation, which will likely be significantly more expensive and technologically complex.
