At the Old Car Land 2026 festival, a 1970 Mercedes-Benz W115 preserved in near-original condition was shown publicly for the first time. The car became part of the exhibition of the company “AvtoNova-D”. “AvtoNova-D” writes about this.
This is the debut of this model at the event. Previously, the company exhibited a Volkswagen T2 for several years in a row, and this time one of the minibuses was complemented by the W115 sedan, which belongs to the company owner Bohdan Duka.
Mercedes-Benz W115 1970 at Old Car Land 2026: model features
The sedan was produced in November 1970 and belongs to the pre-facelift version. It has narrow rear lights, a compact window-mount mirror, and is not equipped with factory seat belts.
Under the hood, a 2.2-liter diesel engine is installed. The average fuel consumption is 6–8 liters per 100 km. The W114/W115 model was produced from 1968 to 1977 and was the predecessor of the modern E-Class. A total of about 2 million such cars were produced.
History of the Mercedes W115 in Ukraine: journey and condition
In its early years, the car was used in Germany. In 1988, it was brought to Ukraine, after which it was stored in a garage for a long time without active use.
Later, the car ended up in Donetsk, and after 2014 it remained in the occupied territory. In 2016, it was purchased by Bohdan Duka, the owner of the company “AvtoNova-D”. After the purchase, the car made its own way to Kyiv, with the exception of a short stop near Zaporizhzhia due to a lack of fuel.
During nearly 10 years of ownership by the current owner, a full restoration was not carried out. Only partial work was performed: repair of the front fenders, updating the headliner, and restoring the driver’s seat. Most elements have been preserved in their original condition.
The Mercedes-Benz W115 also features characteristic traits of its era, including a front armrest that transforms into an additional seat. Formally, the interior is designed for six passengers.
The display at Old Car Land 2026 was the first public appearance of this example as part of an exhibition.
