- The first Zeekr brand car with level 3 autonomy will be the Zeekr 9X Grand.
- The system is based on powerful Nvidia chips and high-precision LiDAR technologies.
- Zeekr also introduces autonomous parking across its entire range of vehicles.
Just a month after the leading electric vehicle manufacturer introduced a comprehensive driver assistance system, Geely-owned Zeekr launched its intelligent driving program. Zeekr’s solution, available in several different versions, will be added to existing models via an over-the-air update in the coming months.
All versions of the system, named G-Pilot, include a general automated evasion system (G-AES) and vehicle-to-parking capacity (V2P). The G-AES system uses a large artificial intelligence learning model and allows for “continuous evasion of unexpected obstacles” at speeds up to 81 mph (130 km/h).
Meanwhile, Zeekr’s V2P allows their electric vehicles to automatically search for free parking spaces and park autonomously. The upcoming Zeekr 9X Grand will expand these systems with even greater capabilities.
The G-Pilot system will be installed as standard equipment in the company’s flagship SUV, which will be capable of level 3 self-driving and will operate on the dual Nvidia Drive AGX Thor chip. Similar to Tesla’s driver assistance systems, the company claims that its G-Pilot suite will evolve and improve throughout the lifecycle of its electric vehicles. This level 3 system will also allow the vehicle to move independently from one destination to another without driver intervention.
Zeekr 9X
While many details about the 9X remain mysterious, recent commercials show that it will be a large SUV, similar in size to the Range Rover and Rolls-Royce Cullinan. It is not only the largest and most luxurious car of the brand but also the first to use the powertrain. Little is known about this powertrain, but it is likely to include moving engines with a gasoline engine and at least two electric motors and may be identical to similar mechanically related ones.
In the base version, the Lynk & Co 900 1.5-liter turbocharged engine is combined with a 215-horsepower front motor and a 308-horsepower rear motor, forming a total power of 710 hp. A pair of 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder PHEVs are also offered, one of which has a total power of 724 hp, and the other an even more impressive 845 hp.
