One of the main highlights of the retro show in Pebble Beach (USA) was the new third-generation BMW Z4. The BMW roadster was presented in the most powerful M40i version.
The 2019 BMW Z4 is built on an entirely new platform, which will also be used by the Toyota Supra coupe. The car’s design has become more expressive, with an enlarged grille and large LED headlights. At the same time, classic proportions with a long hood and short trunk are maintained. The M40i version also received a body kit, rear spoiler, and 19-inch wheels.
The new BMW Z4 has returned to a soft fabric roof. The abandonment of a retractable metal top allowed a weight reduction of 50 kg.
In the interior, the virtual instrument panel and large 12.3-inch touchscreen stand out. The BMW Z4 M40i is equipped with sporty bucket seats.
Under the hood of the top BMW Z4 2019 is a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbo engine with 340 hp. With an 8-speed automatic transmission, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 4.6 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h. Later, 2.0-liter turbo engines with 184 and 252 hp will also be offered.
The equipment of the M40i version includes adaptive dampers and an electronic differential. The first to go on sale will be the First Edition, which also received a head-up display and a powerful Harman Kardon audio system.
