Security Breach: Thieves Broke into a Car Dealership and Escaped Police in a Stolen Hellcat

Theft of a Rare Dodge Challenger from a Dealership

In the city of Ottawa, Kansas, criminals stole a rare 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Jailbreak from the Victory Ottawa dealership. The incident occurred on the night of June 15th when the perpetrators, using another car, broke into the dealer’s premises and fled in a blue Hellcat. Police responded quickly, but the pursuit had to be terminated due to the danger to other road users.

The vehicle had only 2,656 miles on it and was in factory condition, including the yellow protective film on the splitter. The Ottawa Police Department appealed to the public for assistance in the search:

We ask anyone with any information about the stolen vehicle to contact the Ottawa Police Department’s Detective Division

Chase Details and Vehicle Value

During the chase, police used spike strips, but that did not stop the criminals. The pursuit was called off on the eastbound I-435 towards Kansas City, Missouri. Similar Hellcat Jailbreak models on the market cost from $60 to $70 thousand, however, experts believe the thieves are more likely to dismantle the car for parts or attempt to smuggle it abroad.

This case is the latest in a series of powerful car thefts in the United States, where criminals are increasingly using aggressive methods. Local law enforcement officials note that such incidents require additional security measures from dealerships, especially regarding the storage of keys for premium models.
