Discounts on the Ford Mustang V8 2025 after price reduction

Classic American muscle cars like the Mustang are no longer as accessible as they once were. Of course, we’ve seen their constant popularity, but let’s be clear: they won’t be around forever. So if you’re still dreaming of driving one of them, it’s time to act while there’s still an opportunity. And now Ford is making it slightly easier to fulfill this dream.

Ford has just brought good news for potential buyers. The automaker announced that newly ordered Mustang EcoBoost models come with a $1,000 discount for retail buyers. This lowers the starting price to $30,920, which might make it a bit more appealing to those who were waiting for a more affordable cost to enter the pony car world. But for true enthusiasts, the real reward is the Mustang GT with an 8-cylinder engine.

While the EcoBoost variant has a discount of only $1,000, the Mustang GT is offered with a $2,000 discount for retail buyers. This brings the starting price down to $44,560. With the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger ceasing production, the Mustang GT is the last of its kind and, like all its predecessors, is a well-balanced offer in terms of performance. Its 5.0-liter naturally aspirated Coyote V8 also provides one of the loudest sound effects among modern cars.

Ongoing sales decline and price increases

Ford did not explain the reason behind its decision to provide discounts, but it is likely due to declining Mustang sales. Sales in January decreased by 36.4%, and in February by 32.2% compared to the previous year. During the first two months of this year, the automaker sold 5,191 Mustang units in the US, significantly less than 7,886 during the same period last year.

While buyers will welcome this $2,000 discount, it’s worth noting that this is still more expensive than when the seventh-generation model was launched for 2024. The final price of the Mustang GT was increased by Ford at the end of last year by $2,700 for Fastback, Premium Fastback, and Premium Convertible models.

Things got even worse for potential Mustang GT buyers last December when Ford unexpectedly raised prices by $1,000. So, although the $2,000 discount seems good on paper, those who purchase the 2025 Mustang GT will still pay more than if they had bought the 2024 model.
