During the Austrian Grand Prix, as part of a ceremonial parade of legends, the McLaren Senna supercar caught fire. The car was driven by the well-known former Formula 1 pilot and current DTM championship director Gerhard Berger.
In the 90s, Berger raced alongside Ayrton Senna, so this race could be considered symbolic. However, it was not very successful. Berger attempted to burn rubber in front of the spectators, but doing “doughnuts” did not last long.
The McLaren tire exploded and caught fire, and then the flames spread to the body. Fortunately, the level of safety at the Austrian Red Bull Ring circuit is high. The stewards quickly reacted and extinguished the McLaren Senna. Gerhard Berger was even able to limp back to the pits on his own, although now the McLaren supercar will need repairs.
Let us remind you that the McLaren Senna is a rare limited model, with only 500 of these 800-horsepower cars being produced, each costing a million euros.
And several of them have already been crashed. By the way, not so long ago the McLaren Senna joined the collection of Cristiano Ronaldo.
