The First Images of the Successor to the Cult 90s Supercar McLaren F1 Have Appeared

Gordon Murray, the legendary British designer and creator of the McLaren F1, has shown what a modern successor to his legend could look like. His company, Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV), has unveiled two new supercars — the S1 LM and the Le Mans GTR. These are not just new versions of the T50 or T33, but completely original projects that open a new chapter in the history of the master of automotive design.

S1 LM is a direct tribute to the McLaren F1 and its 1995 Le Mans victory. The car combines recognizable motifs of the iconic model with a new, unique design: similar headlights, original air intakes, and side lines create a modern face for the classic.

The technical specifications are impressive: a naturally aspirated 4.3L V12 develops over 700 hp, the gearbox is assembled from components of the T50 and T50S, and the suspension has become lighter and stiffer. The interior retains the signature three-seat layout with a “skeletal” architecture of the trim. Production is limited to five units, all of which have already found their owners.

Le Mans GTR is a tribute to the F1 GTR Longtail, with elements of the iconic Porsche 917 and Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3 prototypes. It retains the engine from the T50, but the aerodynamics and chassis have undergone radical changes: an extended “tail” for better downforce, large air intakes, additional cooling, and a rigid transmission mounting for maximum responsiveness.

Production is limited to 24 cars, each with numerous customization options for the three-seat interior.

“I have always been fascinated by long-tail prototypes — they perfectly combine engineering and beauty. The Le Mans GTR is a modern reinterpretation of these cars with state-of-the-art aerodynamics and meticulously worked-out components,” says Gordon Murray.
