The Geely Galaxy M9, a 6-seater SUV with a hybrid powertrain, has been seen in person for the first time. The new flagship will hit the Chinese market later this year. The car is the production version of the Galaxy Starship concept and has every chance to become one of Geely’s most talked-about premieres in 2025.
The model is created under the Geely Galaxy brand, which specializes in cutting-edge electrified vehicles. Visually, the Galaxy M9 looks futuristic: a closed front end with a chrome emblem, headlights connected by an LED strip, aggressive side bumper elements, and a LiDAR sensor on the roof. The side profile features recessed door handles, a high hood line, and an overall monolithic shape. Inside, there is space and comfort: the second row is equipped with two separate “captain’s” seats, hinting at a premium level of trim.
The rear features full LED lighting with the Geely logo, pseudo-exhaust tips, a roof spoiler, and stylish slim reflectors. The car is equipped with an independent rear suspension, and the drivetrain is most likely all-wheel drive. Full technical specifications have not yet been released, but it is known that it will be a plug-in hybrid.
Interestingly, it was initially thought that the model would be called the Galaxy Starship 9, but Geely settled on the M9. This immediately sparked a wave of discussion in China: the name turned out to be very similar to the Aito M9 from Huawei and Seres—a popular large SUV priced at around 500,000 yuan (70,000 dollars).
