The Maserati company has provided the Italian Carabinieri with a unique MCPura supercar, which will be used for special tasks. This vehicle is equipped with police livery, flashing emergency lights, and updated equipment in the interior. Its main task is the rapid transportation of blood and organs throughout Italy.
Technical Features and Capabilities
Maserati introduced the MCPura model back in the summer, and now it will serve law enforcement agencies for the first time in the brand’s history. This car is an updated version of the MC20 model with a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and a 3.0-liter Nettuno V6 engine. The engine features twin-turbocharging, delivering 621 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque.
The powertrain is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. Thanks to this, the supercar, weighing 1,475 kg, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, and its top speed exceeds 320 km/h.
The Vehicle’s Mission and Its Equipment
The MCPura’s specifications might seem excessive for regular police needs, but in this case, the car will be used for tasks where human lives are at stake. It is intended for the emergency delivery of organs for transplantation and blood products.
To perform its functions, the car received the traditional Carabinieri livery, as well as special emergency lights on the roof and bumpers. The interior features updated controls, carbon fiber details, and Sabelt sports seats with microfiber upholstery. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with special systems for preserving organs during transportation.
Other Additions to the Carabinieri Fleet
In addition to the Maserati, the Carabinieri have also received a new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio model. This car is equipped with a 2.9-liter V6 engine with twin-turbocharging, producing 513 horsepower. It also features a sports suspension, a mechanical locking differential on the rear axle, and carbon fiber accents on the exterior.
The use of such powerful vehicles for medical needs underscores the importance of speed and reliability in critical situations.
