In the American hinterland (state of Virginia), an abandoned Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing was discovered. The legendary Mercedes sports car stood for half a century in an old barn.
The car belonged to a lawyer and after his death in 1968 it was not driven. No one knew about the car, as the owner never told anyone about it. Surprisingly, even his relatives had never heard of the Gullwing.
The Mercedes 300SL is, of course, covered in a layer of dust and needs work. But overall it is well preserved, and its mileage is only 56 thousand km. Not surprisingly, it was sold for $1.8 million.
Recall that the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing is the world’s first car with direct fuel injection. Its three-liter six-cylinder engine developed 215 hp and allowed it to reach 245 km/h.
