The official photos of the third-generation BMW 1 Series have been published. The model presentation will take place at the end of June, and sales will start in the fall with a starting price of 28,200 euros. The smallest BMW hatchback has radically changed. 
Design of BMW 1 Series 2020
The main news is the transition to the front-wheel-drive platform, which is used by the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer minivan. Moreover, the BMW 1 Series has become more compact – 4319 mm long with a wheelbase of 2670 mm.
About the three-door version, there is still no word. 
The design has also changed: the hood is shortened, and the roofline has become more sloping. An enlarged grille and slanted LED headlights are the new face of the BMW 1 Series.

In the salon, changes are not so radical, although, for example, a virtual dashboard and a head-up display have appeared. The central panel is traditionally turned towards the driver.
The new BMW 1 Series 2020 has become more spacious, and the trunk volume has increased to 380 liters (with the rear seats folded – 1200 liters). 
The list of options now includes a parking autopilot and a semi-autonomous driving system. All BMW 1 Series models are now equipped with automatic braking technology.

From the start, five engines will be offered. These are gasoline turbo engines with a volume of 1.5 l (140 hp) and 2.0 l (306 hp), as well as turbo diesels with a volume of 1.6 l (116 hp) and 2.0 l (150 and 190 hp).
The top 306-horsepower BMW M135i accelerates to a hundred in 4.8 seconds and reaches a speed of 250 km/h. It has all-wheel drive and also received a body kit, 18-inch wheels, and sports seats. 
You can choose a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed robot with two clutches. The new BMW 1 Series 2020 got an electronic differential, and adaptive shock absorbers are available for an additional fee.
