A Maserati Merak SS was discovered abandoned in New York. The rare supercar sat outside for decades, covered in rust, reports Roma Urraco.
Indeed, the model is truly rare – only 1830 cars were produced from 1972 to 1983. The Maserati Merak supercar was positioned as a more affordable and less powerful version of the flagship Bora coupe.
The SS version was equipped with a 3.0-liter 190-horsepower V6 and reached 240 km/h.
The engine was removed from this car but has been preserved.
Also included are the original mats and a spare tire. An interesting detail: the steering wheel of the coupe is from Citroen (the French brand owned Maserati in the 70s). The car’s mileage is 55,000 km (34,000 miles).
