Nissan Juke of the second generation is one of the most anticipated new products of the year. The predecessor was sold in a million copies, and, of course, great hopes are placed on the new model.
To your attention – the first Russian-language test of Nissan Juke 2020, which can be considered objective. It is based on assessments from leading world automotive journalists who have already tried the new Nissan Juke. By the way, it is already on sale in Europe.
The design of the Nissan Juke 2020 can be called evolutionary, because the silhouette of the crossover remains familiar, the rear door handles are hidden in the pillars, and the headlights are still two-level. But the optics are now LED already in the basic version, and the rear fenders are more expanded.
Moreover, the Nissan Juke 2020 is built on the new CMF-B platform (like the new Renault Clio and Captur). Although it has grown to 4210 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, and 1595 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2635 mm, it has also become lighter by 23 kg (1182 kg). While the exterior of the Juke is recognizable, the interior has undergone radical changes.
Not only has the design changed: journalists note the improved quality of the trim materials. The top version of Tekna uses leather and Alcantara, even on the dashboard.
Also, the crossover has a more advanced multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen. It supports Apple CarPlay Android Auto, and there is also satellite navigation with online traffic. The bottom-cropped steering wheel is now adjustable for both height and reach, and the driver’s seat has an extended range of adjustments.
The optional sports seats have much better lateral support. However, due to wide «shoulders,» the rear view is still not the best.
The increased dimensions have positively affected the interior space. There is now 58 mm more legroom in the back and 11 mm more headroom. The trunk volume is now 422 l.
Already in the base, the new Nissan Juke in Europe received adaptive cruise control, automatic braking systems, and traffic sign recognition. Among the options, there is Wi-Fi, active lane and «blind» spot control, and even the ProPilot semi-autonomous driving system.
From the start, only a 117-horsepower turbocharged engine is available, although a hybrid is promised later. The engine is quite peppy and, of course, much more torque than the 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four. The peak torque reaches 180 Nm (briefly in Overboost mode – 200 Nm) and is available from 1750 rpm.
With a 6-speed manual, acceleration to a hundred takes 10.4 seconds, with a variator – 11.1 seconds. The average fuel consumption is reduced to 6.4 and 5.8 liters/100 km, respectively. Moreover, the three-cylinder engine is surprisingly quiet.
However, aerodynamic noise at high speeds makes itself known. Yet, the new Juke is more comfortable than its predecessor and even with optional 19-inch wheels is not too stiff.
Meanwhile, the body roll in turns is small, and the steering wheel has become slightly lighter. The new Nissan Juke will appear in Ukraine in the second half of 2020. It is expected that its initial price will be just under half a million hryvnias. Most likely, the Nissan crossover will come to us with the same engine as the European version.
