A terrible tragedy occurred in the American city of Durham. A household gas explosion led to human casualties and destroyed one of the world’s largest collections of Porsche.
The car collection belonged to millionaire Bob Ingram and included over 80 Porsche cars of different years. It featured early Porsche 356 Speedsters as well as the modern hypercar Porsche 918 Spyder.
The explosion occurred due to repair work — workers punctured a gas pipeline near the building where Bob Ingram’s cars were stored.
Although most people were successfully evacuated from the area immediately after the leak, one person died and 17 others sustained injuries of varying severity.
Bob Ingram’s garage was completely destroyed by the explosion. The exact number of destroyed vehicles is not specified, but it is unlikely that many cars survived.
