Which Coupes and Convertibles Can Be Bought in Europe for 2-3 Thousand Euros

Summer is the perfect time for convertibles and sports cars. This is especially true during the quarantine period, during which, recall, the demand for convertible rentals in Ukraine has noticeably increased. However, during this same time, many people’s incomes have decreased, so we became curious to find out which convertibles and coupes can be purchased in Germany and other EU countries for minimal money, namely – for 2-3 thousand euros. Though, of course, there’s another option, which our Ford Mustang video review talks about.

Let’s immediately note that such cars can be bought, but one should not forget about the year of manufacture and the standards to which imported cars must comply for customs clearance.

It’s not difficult to guess that as a platform for selecting a car we used the website mobile.de

Under our requirements fell fifty cars. We selected the TOP-5 most unusual options. Let’s start, perhaps, with the most unusual car, the existence of which in Ukraine is known by very few.

City El Mini El Cabrio

City El is a company originating from Denmark, although the manufacturing country is Germany. It began releasing its first cars in 1987.

There are only 4 models, one of which is still in production. By the way, all models are electric!

City El Electric Cars

  • El Trans A/S (1987-1988)
  • Eltrans1 A/S (1991-1995)
  • Eltrans89 A/S (1995-1999)
  • CityCom GmbH (2012-)

Depending on the version, the compact City El city cars have a range of 70 to 90 kilometers. The maximum speed varies between 45-70 km/h. The specs are not the most impressive, but for European streets and city speed limits, they are quite normal.

As for this specimen, it’s a convertible from 1991. Such early 90s “electric trains” can be bought in Germany for 1500-2500 euros. Appear on the roads with such a car – you definitely won’t go unnoticed…

MGF

A classic of the English automotive industry and, most likely, a real ‘headache’ on wheels – and we’re not talking about reliability, but about spare parts and their cost. We are sure that in Britain it’s no problem to buy them at all, but here, to drive such and enjoy, ideally buy two, leaving one for scrap.

If you abstract from this – it’s a beautiful and stylish car, which can be found in Germany or Poland for a couple of thousand euros.

Aixam Mega Cabrio

A very original car produced by the French company Aixam-MEGA, founded in the early 1980s.

Such a convertible from the 1990s can be found mainly in France and Germany. The engine is a 1.4-liter with a power of 75 horsepowers. The cost in Europe is 3-5 thousand euros.

Innocenti 950 Spider

An Italian creation from the 60s, designed for young people. A compact car, but stylish and fashionable in Italian style.

Equipped with engines of 43 and 58 horsepowers, but thanks to its light weight, the maximum speed is quite good – 150 km/h.

Now you can buy such a convertible in the EU for only 3-4 thousand euros, however, in this case, we are talking about “worn-out” specimens.

LUAZ 969

And how could we pass by our LUAZ.

Yes, yes, they were popular in Germany at one time, and even now they are valued – from 3 to 5 thousand euros.
