Ferrari supercars attract attention not only with their bright design and breathtaking characteristics, but also with interesting technical solutions. Italian engineers don’t rest on their laurels and constantly introduce innovations. Some of them are hidden and not known to everyone, that is, they are real easter eggs.
Hole in the nose
The Ferrari F8 Tributo has a special hole in the nose. Air is released from it, which is sucked in by the front air intake.
This allows for a 15% increase in downforce at the front.
Reverse gears
The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona and a number of other models use a 5-speed manual gearbox of the “dog-leg” type (with a reverse shift pattern). It is believed that this way, gear changes are faster.
Dashboard for the passenger
In Ferrari F12, Portofino, and other modern models, there is a separate display for the passenger, which duplicates the instrument readings.
Gloves included
All Ferraris come with a toolkit, branded gloves, and spare fuses.
Flat bottom
To improve airflow under the bottom, special aluminum plates are installed.
Telemetry
This technology comes from Formula 1. The dashboard display shows information about the status of the car’s main systems.
Luggage straps
This tradition has been preserved since the 1950s when suitcases in the car were really secured with straps.
Tunnels in the sides
Another technology from Formula 1 is DRS.
However, if the slots open on the rear wing of the racing cars, road Ferraris have special channels in the sides. When the flaps open, air passes through them, which reduces downforce and allows for higher speeds.
Individual plaque
In the most expensive Ferraris like the 812 Superfast, there is a special plaque with a list of the selected options. Exclusive, no question.
Magnesium seats
The frame of the seats in the Ferrari Portofino is made of magnesium.
This made it possible to reduce the weight of each seat by 12 kg. Of course, carbon fiber racing seats are even lighter, but they are much more expensive.
