by This year, Bugatti Chiron celebrates its 20th anniversary. No, it’s not about the current model – it has been produced since 2017. The point is that in 1999, a fantastic concept car, the Bugatti Chiron, was introduced. 
In the late 90s, the Bugatti brand came under the control of the Volkswagen Group, and the Germans took up its revival. First appeared the EB118 and EB218 concepts, which were followed by the Bugatti Chiron hypercar.
The first Bugatti Chiron was built on the all-wheel-drive chassis of the Lamborghini Diablo, and its angular exterior was created at ItalDesign studio. But the most interesting part was the 6.3-liter W18 engine with 555 horsepower. With a 5-speed manual transmission, the car could reach 330 km/h and accelerated to a hundred in 3.5 seconds. 
The 1999 Bugatti Chiron was initially a prototype, and during tests, it turned out that the 18-cylinder engine was capricious and unreliable. Incidentally, the first Bugatti Veyron concept also had this engine, but over time it was replaced by an 8.0-liter W16.
