by In 2018, 116.8 thousand used cars were first registered in Ukraine, which is almost twice the figure for 2017. Moreover, significantly more used cars were registered than new ones. 
According to the association “Ukrautoprom”, in December, 21.4 thousand used cars were put on record for the first time against only 7 thousand new ones. Thus, about 75% of the cars registered per month are used.
The most popular used cars in Ukraine for the past year have been named:
1 Volkswagen – 19,250 units
2 Renault – 14,758
3 Skoda – 10,615
4 Ford – 7,854
5 Opel – 6,827
Interestingly, all these brands are several times more popular in the second-hand market than in the new car segment.
The most significant difference is with Opel, as only 209 new cars of this brand were sold. It is also worth noting that this statistic does not include cars with “Euro plates.” Incidentally, 16.5 thousand of them have already been cleared, and 14 thousand owners paid a fine for violating the rules of transit and temporary import.
